TOUR DETAILS: Our driver will wait for you under your cruise ship with a sign bearing your name at an established time usually 8:00 am. The drive to Rome takes about 1h 15minutes (depending on traffic).

Upon arrival in Rome, the tour will begin at St. Peter's Square where you can admire the beautiful square, rebuilt and redesigned by Gian Lorenzo Bernini between 1656-1667 and Saint Peter's Basilica, whose reconstruction was entrusted to Bramante then Raffaello Sanzio, Giocondo of Verona, Giuliano da San Gallo and finally Michelangelo. After that, we will move on to Piazza Navona that was built over the ancient stadium of Domitian which was used for athletic games. Today in Piazza Navona you can admire the church of St. Agnes in Agony and the Fountain of the Four Rivers, created and designed by Borromini. The fountain was commissioned by Pope Innocent X at the height of the Baroque era and was designed and molded by the sculptor and painter Gian Lorenzo Bernini between July 1648 and June 1651.

We will continue the tour by visiting the Pantheon built as a temple to all past, present and future gods. It was rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian between 118 and 128 AD after the fires of '80 and 110 d.c. had damaged the previous construction of the Augustan age.

Going down Via del Corso, we will visit the Trevi Fountain, one of the most famous fountains in the world, situated on one side of Palazzo Poli designed by Nicola Salvi was inaugurated in 1735 and belongs to the late Baroque period. Then we will visit Piazza di Spagna with its famous Steps, Piazza del Popolo and the church of Santa Maria del Popolo in which houses works by Caravaggio and Bernini and the famous chapel Chigi by Raphael finally crossing Piazza Venezia where we will see the Vittoriano (Altar of the Fatherland) and the famous balcony of Palazzo Venezia where Mussolini pronounced the declaration of war against France and Britain which marked the entry of Italy in World War II.

From here we will travel down Via dei Fori Imperiali (Imperial Forum) to stop in front of the magnificence of the Coliseum (Flavian Amphitheatre), symbol of the imperial city. Its construction was begun by Vespasian in 72 AD and was inaugurated by Titus in '80 .

The tour will end at 14:30/15:00 when we begin our journey back to the port of Civitavecchia. You will be ready to board and continue your cruise at about 16:00.
